I am testing out JAWStats (I downloaded the beta). I am familiar with AWStats and have used it before. I am testing on a client's log files, which are over 200GB in size for the three years 2006-2008.

I processed 2006 [most of these logs were lost but some remain] and I was able to see the nice interface of JAWStats with no problems. I was encouraged.

I then processed all of 2007 stats and finally completed today. When I go to JAWStats (the url of the IP on 80), I just get a blank page.

The information does show up in awstats' regular interface.

Please help me to find out the problem, and in turn possibly help improve your software while it is still in beta.

Also, are there any plans to make the flash interface include rollovers?

Also, have you seen this project and would you ever consider including similar effects and rollover states to your project?

Click on charts at the top and you will be able to preview the tons of already designed, motion and rollover-effected amazingly beautiful flash graphs. It's open source too. Anyways thanks.

Hi n4th4nr1ch,

I'm worried JAWStats is timing out with such a large amount of data. There are things I am looking improving the speed here but until then, can you try increasing the "timeout" limit in php.ini? I appreciate this is like cracking a walnut with a sledgehammer.

JAWStats has a "caching" capability too but it hasn't been released yet for various reasons. I think however it is probably time to address those reasons and add that into the next version.

Finally, some people are unhappy with JAWStats using Flash at all (an open-source project having a closed-source dependency) and I must admit, since discovering ExCanvas, I haven't written a single line of ActionScript. I think this project is more likely to head in the direction of Flot (http://code.google.com/p/flot/) which can also handle those desirable sexy rollovers.

Thanks for your detailed post and the heads-up to Open Flash Chart. Please let me know if the php.ini change helps.

People who aren't happy about the closed source can kiss it until they develop something better as far as I'm concerned. I'm an avid linux/OSS user myself but facts are facts when it comes to features and usability in many cases. I always recommend and use OSS for personal, non critical projects when possible but often times, especially when it comes to aesthetics, closed source may be desired, until/unless an equally powerful alternative comes to light.

Anyways, your recommendation didn't change anything, but I did get some results by increasing the maximum memory in php.ini. JAWStats' interface now shows up with no data and the status circle spinning. I've increased the maximum load times as well, but so far nothing is done processing it seems. Will let you know if anything appears.

The Firebug extension for Firefox is your friend here. If you could look at the AJAX call that is made when the navigation appears, you'll no doubt find the answer.

Firebug shows
