I think I've found the problem and it's my fault. I will make sure it is fixed in the next release which is only a few days away, but in the mean time here is my solution.

It is being caused by me using PHPs "short" opening tags in places, eg. "<?=". To use these, a flag needs to be set within the php.ini file.

Solution 1)
Change the php.ini file to allow short tags. See: http://uk3.php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.short-open-tag

Solution 2)
Open the JAWStats index.php file and do a search and replace.
Look for: "<?=" (minus the quotes)
Replace with: "<?php echo " (minus the quotes, keep the trailing space)

Solution #2 seems easier to me. Please let me know how you get on.

I went nutty trying to figure this out, I wound up changing all the short tags to include "echo", which seemed to solve the problem.

I'll try this solution, thanks joncombe!
